The NVPS/GIPS Circle Story

Grade 2s at Nene Valley and Glen Iris are writing a book together.
Happy Reading!

CHAPTER 1 (GIPS)

Hi I'm Matilda, you can call me Tilly for short. I have a mum, dad and a big brother called Jed. I have a sprinkling of freckles across my nose and I barrack for North Melbourne Kangaroos Football Club (Australian Rules Football AFL).

My brother Jed thinks footy is the most important thing in the world so you'll know what he thinks about. Yep. Footy, footy and more footy! It almost kills me to think about it! Anyway, today we are going somewhere. I don't know where exactly. Jed doesn't know. But Mum and Dad DO know. I am hoping it will be exciting.

CHAPTER 2 (NVPS)

“ Tilly, are you ready yet?!!!” That was my mum shouting up to me. It was taking me ages to decide which of my many pairs of trainers to wear because I love trainers! Finally I chose my blue Velcro trainers that had a shiny gold kangaroo on the side. I hurried downstairs and went outside to where mum, dad and Jed were waiting in the car. Mum locked the house and off we set, I had no idea where we were going. We had only been travelling for a matter of minutes and Jed had already started droning on about footie, I was starting to get a headache. Would he ever stop talking? I was beginning to hope that we were not going far as I wasn’t sure how much of him I could put up with.

“Clue up ahead” dad yelled from the front seat. I stretched forward trying to see out of the front window. There up ahead in the road was a signpost. Where was it pointing too?

CHAPTER 3 (GIPS)
As we got closer I saw that the sign had an aeroplane on it..."It's an airport sign!" I shouted. Jed and I were overjoyed and started chanting, "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" Then suddenly Jed said, "Mum, where are we going?"
"ENGLAND!" Mum and Dad yelled. Jed and I couldn't believe it. As we got out of the car and about to head into the airport I said, Hey Mum, where's our luggage?!"
"Ummmm...I...don't know! Jack do you know where they are?"
"No!" said Dad.
"Here they are!" said Jed racing to the boot of the car. "You were trying to trick us!"
As we walked into the airport I started getting butterflies in my stomach, I had never gone on a plane before let alone flying to somewhere half way round the world! I was very excited though because in one of my books I had read a bit about England and I really hoped we were going to see Big Ben, the picture of the clock tower looked so awesome! I started daydreaming about all the other things I could see in England when...BANG.....
