Doves

Doves class is taught by Mr Shang and Mrs Jenkins, who enjoy teaching fun, engaging lessons. We work hard, but our teachers make learning really exciting. For good behaviour, hard work and positive attitude, we get prize tickets and at the end of the week we get to pick a treat if we get drawn out of the bucket.

Welcome to Doves

We are a mixed class of Years' 5 and 6. Our teachers are Mr Shang and Mrs Jenkins and our teaching assistant is Mrs Smail. Doves class understand that we are some of the oldest pupils in the school and therefore we have lots of responsibilities to help keep the school running smoothly and to set a good example for the younger children of our school.

Homework

Reading: Your child will take a STAR Reader test each term which will determine which colour book-band they are on. We ask that they bring their school reading book home each day and that they spend time reading at home. When your child has finished a book, they will be able to take an Accelerated Reader quiz.

Spellings: As part of our on-going teaching of spelling patterns and spelling rules, these will be addressed and taught in class. This will give us the opportunity to focus on individual gaps and any common misconceptions. We will provide feedback at parents meetings on specific areas of weakness and any specific spelling patterns/rules that your child needs support with.

PE (PE kit)

To see when your child has PE please click on this link to view the PE timetable.

Please ensure that your child comes to school dressed in the appropriate kit on these days.  As the weather improves please can you ensure your child has their water bottle in school and has had sunscreen applied.

Please make sure that long hair is tied up on PE days, and earrings, if worn, are removed.

Trips and Visits

We are very lucky to be going on some fantastic trips this year and we will be taking part in some memorable experiences.  These include a trip to Harry Potter Studio Tour in December. Further trips are being planned for the rest of the year - watch this space!

In the Summer Term Year 6 have the opportunity to participate in a fantastic residential trip to PGL Caythorpe.

Performances

In the Summer Term, Year 5 and 6 pupils will be taking part in a production. It is a great way for the children to sign off from Nene Valley before they embark on their Secondary school journey.
