Skylarks
Skylarks class is taught by Mrs Green and Mrs Yeomans. We try our very best in Skylarks and we have fun along the way. We aim to build confidence in everyone so that and enjoy seeing all the children learn and grow, watching them surprise themselves at just how amazing they are!
Welcome to Skylarks
Welcome to the Skylarks' Class - we are a class of Year 4 children . We are taught by Mrs Yeomans (Monday, Tuesday) and Mrs Green (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). The teaching assistants working in our phase are: Mrs Lowey, Miss Callaghan, Mrs Neesham and Mrs Poole.
Year 4
If your child would like a snack, they will need to bring a healthy, nut-free snack with them, which they will put into the class snack box when they come into the classroom in the morning. To avoid confusion, we would encourage all children to bring their snacks in a named container or bag. Alternatively, the school tuck shop will be available for any children without a snack that day.
Children can have a carton of milk at break time, which parents can pay for through the Cool Milk website.
Lunchtime in Key Stage Two is from 12:30-1.30pm.
Children in Key Stage Two do not have an afternoon break, but we ensure the children have opportunities for movement breaks, such as the Golden Mile, and each session ends with a short game as part of our reward system.
School water bottles should be brought to school every day and contain water only. These should be named clearly. They can be purchased through Parent Pay.
Homework
Reading : Your child will take home their school reading book each day. We ask that they spend time reading at home each day and record their reading within their Reading Record book. We ask that your child brings their reading book and Reading Record book to school each day. They can do tests on Accelerated Reader after finishing their books.
Spellings: Children in Year 3 and 4 will need to know how to spell the common exception words for their year group. These can be found online and will be given to all children.
Timetables: Children should be practising their Timetables regularly. Children in Year 4 will complete an assessment at the end of the year.
PE (PE kit)
Skylarks' class will have swimming on Mondays and P.E. on Fridays.
Please also ensure that your child comes to school dressed in the appropriate kit on these days. Long hair needs to be tied back on PE days, and earrings, if worn, should be removed. If it is not possible to remove your child's earrings, please ensure they have tape in school to cover over their earrings during the lesson.
In warmer weather, hats and sunscreen are advisable.
Skylarks will be swimming in the Autumn Term. All children require swimwear, goggles, swim hat and a towel.
Trips and Visits
One of our topics this term will be the Ancient Egyptians, and we are planning an exciting Egyptian day.
Year 4s will also have the opportunity to take part in an overnight camping trip to Ferry Meadows in the Summer Term.
Each class will also go swimming for one term as part of the curriculum.
Performances
Year 3 / 4 Production: Each Spring, Year 3 / 4 produce a play, full of songs and performances, in which all children across the Phase take part. Please don’t miss it!
