Ravens

"Mrs Mitchell works hard to create exciting lessons, so we can discover more about the world, develop our skills and challenge ourselves to achieve."

"You always make everything we learn fun!" (Year 6 pupil.)

Welcome to Ravens

Welcome to Ravens’ class.  We are found in the classroom at the end of the corridor, opposite the playing field. We are a friendly class: full of people eager to get to know you, make you feel welcome and help you feel at home.  Mrs. Mitchell is our teacher, Mrs Fogg and Mrs Farrell are our teaching assistants: we are all members of the Ravens' class team. We work hard to create exciting lessons, so we can discover more about the world, develop our skills and challenge ourselves to achieve. We are very lucky this year to welcome Mr Nolan to our class team. He will be teaching some of our lessons as well as supporting us in our learning.

Homework

Reading – Your child will take a STAR Reader test each term which will determine which colour book-band they are on. We ask that they bring their school reading book home each day and that they spend time reading at home. When your child has finished a book, they will be able to take an Accelerated Reader quiz. Try to complete at least two quizzes each half-term.

Spellings: As part of our on-going teaching of spelling patterns and spelling rules, a wide range of vocabulary and spelling patterns will be addressed and taught in class. This will give us the opportunity to focus on individual gaps and any common misconceptions. Children will focus on a list of words to practise before completing a challenge at the end of the week. The challenge will involve the children using the words they have focused on in sentences.

PE (PE kit)

To see when your child has PE please click on this link to view the PE timetable.

Please ensure that your child comes to school dressed in the appropriate kit on these days.  As the weather improves please can you ensure your child has their water bottle in school and has had sunscreen applied.

Please make sure that long hair is tied up on PE days, and earrings, if worn, are removed.

Trips and Visits

We are very lucky to be going on some fantastic trips this year, making lasting memories.

Performances

In the Summer Term, Year 5 and 6 pupils will be taking part in a production. It is a great way for the Year 6 children to sign off from Nene Valley before they embark on their Secondary school journey.
