Welcome to Ravens
Welcome to Ravens’ class, we are found in the classroom at the end of the corridor, opposite the playing field. We are a friendly class: full of people eager to get to know you, make you feel welcome and help you feel at home. Mrs. Mitchell is our teacher, she works hard to create exciting lessons so we can discover more about the world, develop our skills and challenge ourselves to achieve.
Reading – Your child will take a STAR Reader test each term which will determine which colour book-band they are on. We ask that they bring their school reading book home each day and that they spend time reading at home. When your child has finished a book, they will be able to take an Accelerated Reader quiz. Try to challenge yourself and complete three quizzes each term.
Spelling – Spelling lists linked to work in school will be given to your child on a Monday. The children will have an assessment of these words on a Friday. A home spelling book will be sent home for your child to practise their spellings (we will show the children how to use this book in school). Please can we ask that the home spelling book is brought into school each day.
PE (PE kit)
PE days are changeable, therefore it’s best to make sure PE kit (including outdoor clothing and trainers) are in school every day. Kit is sent home for washing every Friday and should be returned to school on Monday morning.
Please make sure that long hair is tied up on PE days, and earrings, if worn, are removed.
Trips and Visits
We are very lucky to be going on some fantastic trips this year and we will be taking part in some memorable experiences. These include, having a planetarium in our school hall, a visit to Bletchley Park and the Peterborough Museum and we will be selling our own hand-made products in our Mini Enterprise topic.
Class Assemblies and Performances
Every term (except for summer, due to our production) we will present a class assembly to our parents and carers, which will take place on a Friday at 3pm. These give us the opportunity to share some of our exciting learning with you.
